Maureen Parsons - September 2021
Started June 2015
When asked why she volunteers, Maureen replied that she finds it rewarding and enjoys being part of something she is passionate about. “I do it because I want to, not because I have to.” replies.
Maureen spends most of her time volunteering at the stables, but has also volunteered at special events as well as The Royal Winter Fair and the Markham Fair.
She has made so many friendships that don’t just end with her time volunteering at WindReach. Recently, Maureen has had the opportunity to part-lease lovable Ruby, a popular horse at the Stables. They are known at the Stables as ‘the ladies.’
Maureen has noticed and learned increased confidence in her, as well as horse care that she hasn’t had the opportunity before.
There have been so many memorable stories while at WindReach, but the one that stands out the most was Sandy Mitchell’s Celebration of Life, back in May 2018. “When the candle was blown out and Alex (his horse) whinnied, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” remembers Maureen.
Volunteering is not new to Maureen. She was part of St John’s Ambulance when she was a teen. It’s always been in her nature to want to help people and animals.
Thank you, Maureen, for all that you do at WindReach Farm.
One person CAN make a difference!
